curious: does anyone carry a gun for protection?
from an ex jw standpoint, how easily did your feelings change toward guns and/or the possibility of killing someone in self-defense?.
my husband and i both carry.
And to answer any questions, no it wouldn't bother me in the slightest to shoot someone messing with me if pushed to do so. I have done it many times in the past and hopefully won't have to in the future, but mess with me and mine to a point and all holds are off, I will shoot and I won't shoot to wound. I will make the intended target a no matter permanently.

yesterday afternoon my older son, karl, who is studying musical production at brighton university, came round to see his family.
he had just been to see his pregnant girlfriend, who is staying with her mum and dad for a week.. karl is a wonderful boy; the type of son any parent would be proud of.
he is loving, considerate, respectful and has never once caused any trouble or been in any.

in 1995 the wts as time finally caught up with them, they had to yield to the inevitable and admit that its hitherto interpretation of the so called 1914 last generation was erroneous.
to all intents and purposes the end was indefinitely posrponed it could be centuries away according to the new explanation.
yet the r&f do not seem to realise these implications and are apparently suffering from collective blindness they still believe the end is as near as it was before 1995, just round the corner.
What DIDN'T make sense, was the EXPLAINATION of what "generation" now meant. To this day, I still cannot explain the current understanding. From what I can tell, it somehow says, "this generation, (the one that sees the events of the last days), will not end until Armeggedon comes", that seems like a very weak explaination to me, but in fact that's all it seems to say. There is no more significance to the term "generation". It is effectively meaningless by the current definition. Very obvious to me now, btw.

I couldnt sum up my feelings towards 1995 change better than you have.It is utter madness when we think about it now isnt it.Even madder the dumb acceptance by the average JW!!!At that point i totally ceased to believe anymore.....up to that point i was a 100% believer. Sigh....still took me another 8 years to break free though.Guess im one of the lucky ones,being i was a relatively young age when leaving.

Reading this thread ive just realised that in 30 years asossciated with Jw,s (from the age of 3!)i dont recall ONE SINGLE SHOCKING OR SURPRISING announcement.Not one.Nada.Nein.Loads of whispers and speculation and disappointment.
